The Client Choice Food Pantry lets people in need choose their own food, rather than giving them pre-packaged food.
Greensboro, NC --September is Hunger Awareness Month-- a time when we need to remember families who can't afford to put food on the table.
Right now, food pantries all over the Triad are asking for donations.
The Servant Center in Greensboro is working to feed local families, and Thursday, we learned hungry families from other counties are driving to Greensboro to get food.
"I believe 's a there's a lack of pantries available," said Katherine Shelton, director of the Servant Center. "I believe the groups of people - the numbers of people is growing, and it's just overpowering some of the smaller pantries. You can't get food some place - you've got to feed your family - you're going to go some place else."
Shelton says one in six families are food deprived.
