AT&T welcomed the Carolina Panthers Thursday as an official advocate of "It Can Wait." It's a national campaign to end the dangerous habit of texting while driving.
The Panthers are one of the first professional teams to support the cause and are among more than 200 advocates nationwide actively supporting the push to stop texting and driving behind the wheel.
The Panthers and AT&T plan to feature "It Can Wait" messages at Bank of America Stadium on the digital scoreboard and through its social media outlets.
Texting while driving is a major issue, and it's not isolated to teen drivers. It affects adults as well. In a recent AT&T survey, 49% of commuters self-report texting while driving, compared to 43% of teens.
Also, more than 40% of those who admitted to texting while driving called it a habit.
