Greensboro, NC -- With all this rain, mosquitos are probably going to be a pain during Thursday's barbecues and pool parties, right? Not so fast, says the health department.
Local health officials say this isn't the time for us to worry about mosquitos.
"We're really more concerned, even so now, after it stops raining for a while," said Scott Green with the Guilford County Environmental Health Department. "Even five to 10 days afterward, we may have a big boom in mosquito population."
Mosquitos breed in standing water, and love to gather in dirty gutters. So, if you have any pails filled with water or gutters filled with leaves, you're just begging mosquitos to visit.
Green says using fans in your house and insect repellents are also ways to get rid of the pests.
So, do yourself a favor and clean up around the house to make sure July 4th is enjoyable for you and your guests.
