Greensboro, N.C. -- Half of the Susan G. Komen three-day races are canceled for next year because of a steep drop in participation. Wednesday, WFMY News 2 learned there will be change in the Triad's race next year.
Susan G. Komen Northwest NC said next year's race will change from May to September. Diana JC Parrish, Executive Director said the change is to involve college students and to avoid competing with other races in the spring season.
The date for the 2014 race is set for September 27, 2014.
Komen Northwest NC held its 2013 race in May with 6,600 participants.
The organization gave $570,000 to 16 local organizations that provide screenings, breast health education and non-medical treatment services.
