Winston-Salem, NC -- Child hunger is a real problem in Winston-Salem and four groups came together at North Forsyth High School Sunday to do something about it.
Bridges Church, along with Generosity Feeds and community volunteers, packaged 10,000 meals in two hours Sunday to go to children in need. The group will deliver the meals to several Equity Plus schools in the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County school district.
The 10,000 meals are specially made by chefs to ensure optimal nutritional value.
Winston-Salem is number one in the country in food hardship for children, and one in four families in the Metropolitan area lives in poverty, according to Generosity Feeds.
The groups of volunteers hope their efforts Sunday will help change those numbers.
