Take time to remember those who've made the ultimate sacrifice fighting for our country's freedom this upcoming Memorial Day on May 27.

There are plenty of events happening across the Triad, state, and nation to honor our many heroes.

Saturday, May 25
Memorial Golf Tournament at 8:00 a.m. at Winding Creek Golf Course in Thomasville. Contact Mike Long at (336)596-9477 if you're interested in playing.

Military Displays, Meet and Greet at the Wal-Mart & Kmart in Thomasville from 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Sunday, May 26
American Legion Post #290 Stokes County Arts Council Memorial Day Service: King Central Part at 5:00 p.m.

Memorial Dinner at 4:00 p.m. at Hillside Park Baptist Church in Thomasville

Memorial Ceremony at 5:10 p.m. at Hillside Park Baptist Church in Thomasville

82nd Airborne Division Band Free Concert at 7:00 p.m. at Finch Auditorium in Thomasville

Monday, May 27
Wreath Laying Ceremony: Thomasville's Memorial at 10:00 a.m. The North Carolina Vietnam Veterans Memorial on I-85 south between Thomasville and Lexington. Also at 10:00 a.m. the bandstand program will begin.

26th NC Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony will be held in downtown Thomasville. The families of 16 North Carolina military personnel killed in the line of duty will be honored. Major General Jeffrey N. Colt, XVIII Airborne Corps Deputy Commander stationed in Fr. Bragg will be the parade grand marshal. Corporal Jeesie Fletcher who lost both legs from an IED in Afghanistan will walk in the parade with help of his prosthetic legs. The parade at the Thomasville's Big Chair will begin at 11:00 a.m.

12:30 p.m. the Airborne Jumpers will jump from a plane and land inside Cushwa Stadium in Thomasville with an oversized 20 foot x 30 foot American flag and plaques from the Military Order of the Purple Heart will be presented to the families being honored.

Lewisville American Legion Post 522 will have its annual Memorial Day Service at 11:00 a.m. Display of Vintage Military Vehicles at 10:30 a.m. For a Memorial Brick contact Mike Jones at 766-9006 or E.A. Hendley 945-3244. Location at 6555 Shallowford Road, Lewisville

Old Salem Museums & Gardens in Winston-Salem: Will offer free admission to military personnel and their families from Memorial Day through Labor Day 2013. Make sure you carry your active Military ID

Reynolda House Museum of American Art in Winston-Salem: Will offer free admission to military personnel and up to five family members from May 28, 2013 - September 1, 2013. You must show an active Military ID.
