Happy Birthday Winston-Salem! Guide To Centennial Events

Winston-Salem, NC -- The city of Winston-Salem is celebrating its Centennial with four days of events.

The festivities kicked off Thursday evening with a historic marker unveiling that tells the story of how Winston-Salem became the city we know today.

Below are a list of scheduled events.
Friday:

Centenarian Luncheon
Winston-Salem will celebrate residents who are or will be 100 years old in 2013 at an invitation only luncheon.
Blue Moon Gallery Hop
5 - 10 p.m. - Enjoy a multitude of arts and entertainment during the Blue Moon Gallery Hop! Spend your "Centennial Bucks," join in a community Centennial toast with Foothill's special centennial Hundred Foot ale or Primo's Centennial Water, and enjoy entertainment with Vagabond Saints Society.

Saturday:

Community Day at Old Salem
9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. - Enjoy a collage of community activities at Old Salem commemorating our centennial anniversary.
Centennial Parade
2- 3 p.m. Centennial Parade begins on Main St. in Old Salem and finishes at Liberty and First streets. Viewing area with bleachers in front of City Hall, 101 N. Main St.
Party in the Plaza
3 - 8 p.m. - Party in the Plaza - Party after the parade at Corpening Plaza. Food, Centennial Brew, vendors, music and headliner Pat "Mother Blues" Cohen. WS/FC Schools musical review will start the afternoon of festivities. 
Scavenger Hunt
4 - 8 p.m. - Search for Centennial clues in Winston and Salem. $25 per person pre-sold online (limit 100 teams)

Sunday:

Winston-Salem Symphony
3 - 5 p.m. - The world premiere of "Hail the Coming Day", the commissioned work by Winston-Salem's own Dr. Dan Locklair to commemorate the centennial anniversary of the consolidation of the City of Winston and the Town of Salem will be performed by the Winston-Salem Symphony.
Worship Service at the May Dell
4 - 5:30 p.m. Come and worship in a multi-congregational service at the May Dell at Salem Academy and College, 500 E. Salem Ave.
In case of inclement weather, activities will be held in Hanes Auditorium on campus.
