SNOW CAMP, NC -- It's a story we've covered from the beginning. Two young children who died in a house fire. And out of tragedy, the compassion and love of the community, to help the man who tried to save them.
A big crowd came out to listen to some good music Saturday and to help some special people in the community.
The Ridge family put on a bluegrass music festival to help the good samaritan, Steven Cosner, along with the family who lost Jade and Zade to a house fire in Gibsonville in early March.
The effort, unfortunately, left cosner with more than $100,000 in medical bills.
"It does my heart so much good to see this because I have prayed so hard for this to become a big success for both families and to bring us happy, good feelings through all the bad stuff we've suffered through," said Laura Ridge, event organizer.
There were at least seven bands at the festival, and it looked like all were having a good time.
