Greensboro, NC -- UNCG nursing students got a first-hand look at how they would respond to an emergency, with a mass casualty exercise Wednesday.
About 90 senior nursing students had about a week's notice about the drill, but they didn't have any other details. There were people of all ages acting as victims, to give the students various situations to deal with.
"Some of our students really got into the roll and gave our responders who were coming that anxiety as it would be truly happening in a chaotic situation," said Julie Kordsmeier, UNCG School of Nursing Clinical Assistant Professor.
UNCG hopes to have another drill next year, but on a larger scale with more community resources.
Campus emergency management crews and Cone Health also participated in the exercise.
