Colfax, NC - This is the time of the year to start thinking about landscaping. Spring is here, and this great time lay your plants out in the arrangements that you like.
Set your pots out with your plants in the places you want to plant and once you got them set you are ready to go . You will want to check that the spacing is correct. Your plants generally come with an information card, and if you look on the back, many times it will tell you the spacing of the plants as it grows and its distance from other plants. You always want to check that, you do not want to crowd your plants.
The first thing you want to do is assess the size of the hole that you need to dig, the size of the pot will give you a good idea. You want the hole to be larger than the plant itself, you want to givetheroots good room to grow and get establish in the soil. This is important, if its an established bed you want the hole to be slightly larger than the plant itself, but if you are starting off from scratch the hole should be twice as large as the plant to make sure it has plenty of room for the roots to grow.
Put a nice layer of mulch all around your plant. Remember that the mulch serve many proposes, not only does it look very nice and helps to keep the weeds down. But More importantly for the plant it maintains moisture in the soil, and protects the roots from the hot sun.
