KERNERSVILLE, N.C. --   Customers were forced to evacuate the Wal-Mart on S. Main St. Friday, after employees received a threatening note, police say.

Officers responded to the store just after 5:30 p.m. when employees say a man approached the customer service counter and passed along a note, telling employees to evacuate the store.

While police received initial reports, saying there were gunshots in the store, officers found no evidence of a gun being fired, according to a news release.

Emergency responders searched the store for explosive devices and didn't find anything.

Detectives also reviewed surveillance footage and have provided a description of the suspect in question.  Officers are looking for a white male, wearing a green checkered shirt and tan, military style pants.

After sweeping the scene, police allowed the store to reopen about two hours after the evacuation.

Kernersville police are still investigating this incident. If you have any information, call the department at 336-996-2306.
