Winston-Salem, NC -- Police in Winston-Salem closed the 3200 block of Burke Mill Road to vehicles and pedestrians for approximately 30 minutes Tuesday after officers responded to an Assault on a Female in progress.

Officers were called to the home and spoke with the victim who said her estranged boyfriend, Hugo Armente, hit her, pulled her hair and threatened her life as he pointed a handgun at her head.

As she was taken to the Magistrate's office, she told the investigating officer that Armente was still armed and hiding in the attic.

Police said they tried to call Armente, but were unable to speak with him. That's when the SWAT team was dispatched to the home and the 3200 block of Burke Mill Road was closed.

Investigators found Armente hiding in the corner of the attic and took him into custody.
