Greensboro, NC -- Police charged a Greensboro man with driving while impaired after an accident that sent another man to the hospital Saturday morning.
The wreck happened on Jefferson Road near the intersection of Hobbs Road before 2:45 a.m.
Investigators say 25-year-old Eric Kang Jackson was driving his 1991 Volkswagen Jetta north on Jefferson when he drove off the left side of the road. The Jetta hit a utility pole, pinning his passenger, Eric Helke, 25, inside.
Greensboro firefighters had to remove Helke from the car, and EMS transported him to the hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
Jackson was not injured in the wreck, and police charged him with the DWI.
Duke Power crews responded to the scene and replaced the damaged utility pole.
