Burlington, NC -- Police arrested a Burlington man early Saturday morning after the state issued an Amber Alert for three local children.
Detarrio Yarbor, 32, was arrested by Rowan County sheriff's deputies at 5 a.m. He was driving a white Dodge van on Interstate 85 at the time of his arrest.
The original incident happened just before midnight Friday.
Police say Yarbor assaulted his girlfriend, Courtnni Johnson, 24, at the Wal-Mart on Garden Road before leaving the scene with Johnson's three children.
Yarbor told police he'd dropped the children off at a home on Queen Ann Street. Police went to the location, which was a family member's home, and found the children in good health.
Yarbor is charged with three counts of Child Abduction, one count of Assault on a Female, and one count of Assault on a Child Under 12.
Deputies placed Yarbor in the Rowan County Jail under a $50,000 secured bond.
This case is still under investigation, and police say additional charges are pending.
