Winston-Salem Police Make Arrest In Saturday Shooting

Winston-Salem, NC -- Police made an arrest in a Saturday shooting that put one man in the hospital.

Terrence Thomas Manokey, 25, is charged with Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill Inflicting Serious Injury and Possession of a Firearm by a Felon.

Police say Manokey shot Eric Bruton, 26, as Bruton was leaving a store on Cleveland Ave before 6 p.m. Saturday.

According to the police report, Bruton walked out of the store, and Manokey got out of an SUV and started shooting at him. Bruton ran from the scene and Manokey followed him and continued shooting, hitting Bruton once in the back.

EMS took Bruton to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, and police do expect him to survive.

Manokey is being held in the Forsyth County Detention Center under a $150,000 bond.

Police say they will not release a photo at this time because there is an ongoing investigation.

The Winston-Salem Police Department's Gang Unit repsonded to the scene and is conducting the investigation.
