High Point, NC -- Police arrested a man they say ran a counterfeit check scheme out of his home in High Point Monday.

Detectives say Xavier Scott Clark, 42, printed more than 900 counterfeit checks totaling more than $2.2 million. Clark mailed checks to victims across the US, according to police.

Clark had the victims cash the checks and transfer money to a specific locations--sometimes they wired the money to Clark. He told the victims they could work from home as "Secret Shoppers."

Police say Clark kept some of the money as part of his payment and wired the rest to Nigeria.

Clark was placed in jail under a $2,500 bond.
