Gibsonville, NC-- A woman is recovering from an assault and police think the suspects who assaulted her broke into the wrong apartment.

Tuesday, P.A. Booker of Gibsonville called police around 10:40pm and reported that two armed men came into her apartment, hit her with a handgun, forced her to the floor and ransacked the apartment for undetermined items.

Gibsonville police officers said the victim was treated on the scene for a bruise to her head.

Investigators said the suspects left without taking anything and they believed the men may have mistaken the victim's address for another person's.

Gibsonville Police was assisted in the investigation and manhunt by Elon Police and Elon University Police. They used K9 officers but were unable to find the suspects.

A composite of one of the suspects was prepared with the assistance of Burlington Police. (see photo)
