Police Charge Woman After Synthetic Drug Raid

Thomasville, NC-- Police in Thomasville announced the arrest of a woman after an investigation that started in October 2011 for illegal drugs.

According to investigators, It started after they received complaints and concerns that a store was selling synthetic marijuana (Spice, Cush, K2) and smoking devices to local teenagers.

During their investigative process to gather evidence, Detectives posed undercover as customers. They were able to purchase synthetic marijuana, smoking devices, scales and other drug paraphernalia from the Clerk who was also a Manager of EZ Tobacco.

On October 17, 2011, Agents executed a search warrant on the business. According to officers, they seized: 1000 grams of synthetic marijuana, hundreds of smoking devices and other drug paraphernalia. The synthetic marijuana was sent to the NC State Bureau of Investigation's Laboratory for testing and the results indicated it tested positive as an illegal controlled substance.

Even after this seizure, officers continued their investigation and said they were able to make more undercover purchases of synthetic marijuana from EZ Tobacco. Another search warrant was obtained and executed, Detectives said they seized more synthetic marijuana, prescription pain pills and drug paraphernalia.

As of result of the investigations and seizures, Police arrested and charged Jamie Lynn Baker of EZ Tobacco. Baker is charged with Felony Possession of a Synthetic Cannabinoid, Delivering a Synthetic Cannabinoid, two counts of Trafficking a Synthetic Cannabinoid, one count of Selling a Synthetic Cannabinoid, Possession with Intent to Manufacture, Sell and Deliver a Controlled Substance and Maintaining a Vehicle/Dwelling/Place for Sell of a Controlled Substance.
