Greensboro, NC - A language barrier could be a huge problem when on a job interview. In today's One Minute Career Check, Consultant Joyce Richman talks about how to get around it.
Joyce says she gets lots of calls from people who speak English as a second language who are really concerned about how they can interview effectively with their grammar and syntax isn't quite correct.
Joyce says, "Get a teacher, a tutor, a trainer or take a class.
Everyday you should be working on your language skills. Every single day. And when you interview, you can just begin the interview by saying that. 'Although English isn't my first language, let me tell you all the things I'm doing to improve my language skills. Because being able to communicate effectively on the job and in your company that's job one for me' and then go about the interview."
