Greensboro, NC -- Career Consultant Joyce Richman hears stories all the time about prospective employees who are so anxious to share their ideas, they miss what the employer really needs.

She says, "identify the problem before you offer a solution."  She suggests asking questions like, "what are the greatest challenges your employees or department faces," and "what are the kind of things you would like me to bring to the table."

Richman says with that information you can give good ideas on how you can help.

You can read Richman's advice every Sunday in the career section of the News and Record.
