Greensboro, NC -- Women in the Triad came together Saturday to help raise money for breast cancer prevention.
They participated in the "1,000 Women In Motion" walk and run 5K marathon.
Many of the participants' lives have been affected by breast cancer and this marathon enabled them to build support among themselves.
This was the first annual marathon to promote better living, diet and exercise in the prevention of breast cancer.
The founder of 1,000 Women in Motion, Cheena Wright says "Get in motion, exercise, and do something about it, because cancer shouldn't take us out. We should be able to control it, not let it control us, and we start by exercising, so a thousand women in motion is out here to start it off."
WFMY News 2's Tracey McCain emceed the event.
