Patients left in the dark by Academy Eye Center ask Call for Action for help

Greensboro, NC -- Being able to see clearly is critical, and according to the Vision Council of America, approximately 75 percent of adults use some sort of vision correction -- we're talking glasses...or contacts. 75 percent!

So imagine ordering your glasses... paying for them... and then having to wait... for months and months and months. Every time you call about you're order you're told...wait some more. Enter Call for Action.

Six months ago, Shawn Carter ordered, but never received, a new pair of glasses from Academy Eye Center in Randleman.Another customer, jinni moore, paid almost $900 for lenses, contacts and prescription sunglasses. That was almost five months ago! Neither received their items.Carter says, "I like people to stay in business, but who can stay in business if you're going to try to cheat somebody?"

So we called Academy Eye Center. Doctor Danford Raynor says his practice is in the middle of switching management billing companies. And the new software unfortunately meant some customers fell through the cracks. Dr. Raynor says, "This troubles me when it comes to light that this has happened to these two people. It pains me to know that these people were not taken care of."

I talked with Dr. Raynor today. Call for Action closed the case with Academy Eye Center and the  refunds were made. We like results like that.
