GREENSBORO, NC -- As you head out to do your holiday shopping,  you should remember to use plastic!

And by plastic we mean your credit card not your debit card that you use as a credit card. Now, this isn't a call to overspend, but 2WTK wants to dispel any of the "debit to credit" myths.

Just because you use your debit card as a credit card,  it's still seen as a debit transaction.

That means: #1- it's harder to contest a purchase and get your money back and #2 - schemers who get that card number still have access to your entire checking account. And while the bank will most likely refund your money-- it could take a week or more--and you're left without cash.

The NC Attorney General's Office has more consumer protection recommendations.
