GREENSBORO, NC -- They're expensive, we can't live without them and yet, we misplace them!

Tech expert Kent Meeker has been testing out the Lookout app for us to help us locate our long-lost electronics.

"It's for the average Android tablet or phone user. The Android operating system has the ability to locate your device built in, but most people will not even attempt to adjust the settings due to technical expertise needed and the lack of user friendliness."

The Lookout App has a free and paid version. Included in the FREE version:

Security- Full Protection against Viruses, Malware, and Spyware Backup- Contacts/Download Your Data to Transfer to a Device
Missing Device- Locate and Scream/Signal Flare/Lock Cam

2WTK wanted to see, not only if the location part worked, but if  the scream/signal flare feature really worked. Indeed, when we put in the log-in and password it located Kent's tablet at the station. To test the scream/signal we sent Kent to the middle of the newsroom to and activated it.

We could hear it across the newsroom, which would lead us to believe you would hear it if it was buried in a bag or under a bed!

When it comes to the paid part of the app, it's $30 per year, per device or $3.00 per month per device. You can cover everything from you phone, tablet, PC and laptop.

Security- Safe Browsing/Privacy Advisor
Missing Device- Remote Wipe Data/Remote Lock/Lock Messaging
Backup- Photos and Call history Backup

Also, with the "Lock Cam" feature you'??ll know immediately if someone is attempting to access your phone. Get an email with the picture and location of anyone who enters an incorrect password five times into your Android lock screen.
