Kernersville, NC-- Thousands of people buy Living Social deals. It probably wouldn't surprise you to call the company offering the deal and have to wait to schedule your service.
But Carol Boggess said her wait from July to October was far too long.
Carol needed a crew to help her finish her move to a new home. She bought a Living Social deal from "We Clean Garages".
The $99 deal promised to clean and organize her garage in two hours. That was in July.
"I tried to set up scheduling in September. I emailed them, I didn't get a response so I went to their website and tried to schedule on their site."
Carol called their 800 number and then sent one final email and still didn't hear anything.
"I probably tried to set up with the company for about 3 weeks before I gave up on them."
2WTK tracked down the company's owner by phone. Solomon Peterson says, "The goal is to make your customers happy not disappointed for that I want to take responsibility and apologize."
Peterson said his company was simply overwhelmed with how many deals where sold.
Carol, may have been underwhelmed by the response of "We Clean Garages". But she explained her issue to Living Social and within 12 hours, "they fully refunded the money I paid as well as customer appreciation credit for future deals."
Carol's big take-away, besides the fact cleaning out the garage is hard work, "You need to stand up for yourself and let them know. Cutsomer service or the way something was advertised."
Whenever you buy a deal, use your credit card, not your debit card. It's easier to contest the charge and get our money back if the deal turns out to not be of use.
And if you forget to use your deal, and it is exprired, the business is supposed to honor the value you paid, not necessarily the deal. So you could use the money towards service from the company.
