Greensboro, NC - Hair in your food? YUCK! Chef Keith Gardiner from GTCC's Culiniary Technology Departments says everyones hair should be restrained.

"Either with a hat or a ponytail or somehting like I tell my students if your hair is longer than mine you should have a hat on  and if you can't tuck your up into your hat, you really should wear a hairnet."

Gardiner says people will touch food or cigarettes or their keys and then touch their hair. Then they cross-contaminate the food when it comes in contact with it  and hair in itself can carry staph because its in contact with your own skin."

Restaurants can lose up to one point for workers not wearing those hair restraints.
