Greensboro, NC -- More than 100,000 children in the WFMY News 2 viewing area are considered "food insecure."  When school is out, many of them aren't getting the balanced meal they ate while at school.

2WTK, Food 2 Families, the Guilford College Chick-fil-A and Second Harvest Food Bank are teaming up for a one day food drive.

Thursday, July 11th people brought kid friendly items to the Guilford College Chick-fil-A at 5901 West Friendly Avenue. Donate the food items kids like and can make on their own: peanut butter, fruit cups, single serve mac & cheese or single serve ravioli.

Now that the drive is over, you can still help. Food banks all over the Triad are seeing an increased need this summer. You can text "eat" to 25383 to make a $10 donation to Second Harvest Food Bank. The Greensboro Urban Ministry also accepts donations year-round.
