Greensboro, NC Home up-keep and maintenance has no expiration date. And no end to the money spent. But the fixes don't have to be expensive or major. Interior designer Laura Redd with Laura Redd Interiors shows us a few ways we can all spruce up the house for less than $100 each.
1. Replace a light fixture or faucet in a bathroom. This will add energy efficiency and water conservation to help with utility costs. Take a class on a weekend at one of the home improvement stores for a quick how-to.
2. Add crown molding to any one room. It adds height and polish to a room. Miter boxes that come complete with saws can make the job easy. But if that seems too daunting, they now sell blocks you put in the corners. Then just have straight cuts on the ends of the molding and nail to the wall. Use paintable caulk to fill any gaps - because few walls are plumb! You will have to read the fine print on the back of the caulk to find the kind you can paint over.
3.Clean or replace the switch plates in your house. A magic eraser is a wonderful tool for this project.
Just spending a $100 a month over the course of the year will you maintain your investment and keep your house up-to-date with current styles and trends.
