Kernersville, NC -- We know the electric bill, the water bill and the gas bill are coming in the mail.
But there are bills we don't see coming and aren't prepared to pay.
"We went through a summer with no air," says homeowner Cathy Evans.
Why? Becuase the cost to repair or replace was just too much! You may be in the same situation. A new AC unit can wipe out your savings.
Knowing the other applicances in her household were decades old too, Cathy opted for a home warranty.
"The small dedcutible is something we can handle. It's peace of mind to know if something goes wrong with the washer or dryer, there is someone to fix it."
A home warranty basically works like insurance. You pay monthly, have a deductible and they repair or replace the appliance at a discounted rate.
And just like any insurance you definitely need to read the fine print to make sure it works for you.
2 Wants To Know talked to the Greensboro Realtors Association. They said a home warranty could be for you if:
The association passed along three names of companies they have had good experience with: Home Trust, Builders 210 and American Home Shield.
Know this, all warranties are only good for functioning appliances. So don't think you can buy insurance for stuff that doesn't work now.
