Greensboro, NC -- The word "Schmooze" has negative connotation because it seems fake. But Corporate CEO & Authority on Success Dan Steenerson says the first rule is to never be fake.
The only time that schmoozing is effective is when it's sincere. With that in mind, here are his three schmoozing tips:
Learn the art of listening and questioning. Instead of getting all your words out, let them get their words out. Be interested and ask questions.
Prepare your elevator speech. This is 10-30 seconds that you prepare to tell the person about yourself, what you offer, etc. This short speech should always end with a question or call to action.
Be worthy of others' trust. This was is pretty self explanatory. Do what you say you will do. If you are constantly letting your co-workers down or if you say you'll get up with someone, do it.
