Greensboro, NC -- Often times flooding can seem to come out of nowhere and before you no it there is a river running through your front yard.

When heavy rain falls over a relatively large area all of that water is directed by the terrain and pulled to the lowest region by gravity. Now, instead of the heavy rain being distributed evenly across the region that received the rainfall, the runoff rainwater accumulates in the lowest spot.

It is important to be aware of whether you are located in a flood-prone region so that you can react accordingly during heavy rains in the event of quickly rising water. If you do find yourself facing flood waters always find an alternate route whether on foot or in a vehicle. Even the smallest amount of water is capable sweeping you off your feet.
