Englewood, CO (SportsNetwork.com) - Denver Broncos head coach John Fox was released from Carolinas HealthCare System's Sanger Heart & Vascular Institute in Charlotte in Friday after undergoing a heart procedure earlier this week.

Fox was taken by ambulance to the hospital on Saturday after complaining of lightheadedness during a golf outing. He then underwent successful aortic heart valve replacement on Monday.

"I am truly thankful for every single thought and prayer that was directed my way," said Fox in a statement released by the Broncos on Friday.

"My recovery is progressing well -- I am feeling better and getting stronger each day. I will begin the next phase of my recovery in Charlotte and continue outpatient appointments with doctors, who will clear me to return to Denver when the time is right."

Fox, who was aware of his condition but waiting for the procedure, added that while he is eager to return to coaching, he will focus on his recovery.

"I believe in our players and have full confidence in Jack Del Rio and our staff," Fox added.

Del Rio is serving as interim head coach in Fox's absence. The 7-1 Broncos travel to take on the San Diego Chargers in Week 10.
