DURHAM, N.C.- There are plenty of things Duke hasn't done in a while, and the Blue Devils can take care of one of them this week by beating Memphis.
Duke (1-0) hasn't started a season with two straight wins since 1998.
Over the past couple of years, the Blue Devils have taken care of several of those firsts-in-a-while.
Last year's team reached its first bowl game since 1994. These Blue Devils opened the season by blanking North Carolina Central 45-0 for the program's first shutout since the Steve Spurrier era in 1989.
Tight end Braxton Deaver said Tuesday that "little things like that are just showing how Coach Cut has changed this program" and that "the system is working right now."
