CONOVER, N.C. - Champions Tour rookie Rocco Mediate and former Masters winner Larry Mize have joined the 11th annual Greater Hickory Kia Classic at Rock Barn field, the tournament announced today.

The Champions Tour event is set for Oct. 14-20, 2013 at Rock Barn Golf & Spa.

These players join a field that already includes Charles Schwab Cup points leader Kenny Perry, defending champion Fred Funk, former Hickory winners Jay Haas, Mark Wiebe, Craig Stadler, Andy Bean and Gary Hallberg as well as David Frost, Russ Cochran and Jeff Sluman.

In addition, World Golf Hall of Fame members Nick Faldo, Colin Montgomerie, Larry Nelson and Nick Price will also play. The field now includes 11 of the top-16 players in the Charles Schwab Cup point standings.

Mediate is eighth in the current Charles Schwab Cup point standings; he has already won two tournaments in his inaugural Champions Tour season, and he finished tied for third at the U.S. Senior Open Championship.

He won the Allianz Championship, his Champions Tour debut, in February in Boca Raton, Fla., and the Shaw Charity Classic earlier this month in Canada.

As a Champions Tour rookie, this year's tournament will mark his first Greater Hickory Kia Classic appearance, but he had success in North Carolina in earlier in his career when he won the PGA TOUR's Wyndham Championship in 1993 and 2002.

Mize will always be remembered for his remarkable 1987 win in the Masters. Tied after regulation with Greg Norman and two-time Masters winner Seve Ballesteros, Mize stole the show chipping in for birdie at the par -four 11th to beat Norman on the second playoff hole.

Mize still considers that shot the most memorable of his career. The Augusta, Ga., native has made four previous Greater Hickory Kia Classic appearances with his best finish coming last year when he tied for 12th place. He has one career Champions Tour victory and is 49th in the current Charles Schwab Cup point standings.

"With today's additions to the field, I think we can safely say this field is the strongest in Greater Hickory Kia Classic history," executive tournament director Jim Correll said. "Rocco is having a fantastic rookie season, and anytime you can add a former Masters winner to the tournament, it makes the field even stronger. We still have four weeks until our tournament so our field could get even stronger. We are definitely looking forward to seeing all these great players at Rock Barn next month."
