PHILADELPHIA -- A Ku Klux Klan rally was canceled Tuesday due to the government shutdown.
Reuters reports that the KKK had a permit for a First Amendment demonstration at Gettysburg National Military Park.
The permit was issued for Saturday, according to Reuters. But the government shut down at midnight on Tuesday, closing all National Parks.
Reuters obtained a statement from the park, saying all permits have been rescinded. Park officials previously defended the KKK's right to use the land for exercising their freedom of speech, according to Reuters.
