HIGH POINT, N.C. -- During the hustle and bustle of Black Friday shopping, church members at CenterPointe Community Church in High Point put their own shopping aside to help others.
Church members gave 10 families two gift cards, each card worth $100. Members traveled to Kmart and Walmart in High Point, Walmart in Thomasville, Toys 'R' Us and Target in Greensboro.
"Wherever God led us we felt was a family that could be blessed," Pastor Tommy Poland said. "We approached these families and kind of preference it as 'hey it's not a joke' this is a blessing from God to you and your family, hope it helps you out this year."
The church held a barbecue to raise money for the surprise gift-giving project.
Members meet at Trinity High School on Saturday nights.
