Instagram has topped 150 million users, as the photo sharing service
acquired last year by Facebook prepares to start displaying ads by the
end of this year.
According to a blog post from Instagram, 50
million of those users joined the service in the last six months. The
mobile app is available on Apple iOS and Google Android devices.
Scooped up last year by Facebook for $1 billion, Instagram is now seeking ways to pull in revenue. The Wall Street Journal reports the ad-free Instagram could introduce advertising within the next year.
