Ford Motor Co. announced Thursday that will invest $80 million in the Kentucky Truck Plant and plans to add 350 jobs.

The investment will go toward updating the 2015 Lincoln Navigator sport utility vehicle manufactured at the plant, which also produces F-Series Super Duty trucks and the Ford Expedition SUV.

The Chamberlain Lane factory currently employs 3,807 members of UAW Local 862 in two shifts.

Jobs at the plant start at $15.78 an hour, but that can grow to more than $28 an hour, according to Ford's contract with the UAW.

Just 167 workers at the plant earn the entry-level salary, plant manager Joe Bobnar said Thursday morning.

Thursday's announcement follows a series of investments by Ford in its two Louisville facilities.

In 2011, Ford invested more than $600 million to renovate the Louisville Assembly Plant and added 1,800 jobs there. Louisville Assembly, which produces the Escape compact Sport Utility Vehicle, is running at full capacity on three shifts.

That plant had once been targeted for closure.
