Yellowstone National Park, WY-- A couple of run-ins with bears in and near Yellowstone National Park have left four people injured.

The National Park Service says a grizzly bear charged a group of hikers in Yellowstone, leaving one person with bite and claw marks and another with injuries that were treated at the scene. The hikers had come across a young grizzly Thursday just before noon when a sow charged.

Roughly 70 miles away, near Island Park, Idaho, two Bureau of Land Management contract workers were bitten by a grizzly bear Thursday. At least one of the men required stitches in wounds on his thigh and buttocks. The other man suffered minor bite wounds on his hand.

Bears are common in the area near the Montana-Wyoming border.
