GREENSBORO, N.C.-- A Triad college student is accused of creating counterfeit money in her dorm room.

Police at the University of North Carolina Greensboro (UNCG) say 19-year-old Symone Vannessa Brown attempted to use a $100 bill that read "Moe Money" at Walgreens on Spring Garden Street.

UNCG Police Chief Jamie Herring says the Walgreens sales clerk questioned Brown about the bill and she left - leaving the questionable cash behind.

Herring says the clerk called authorities and while officers were there investigating, he says Brown came back to retrieve the bill.

UNCG Officers obtained a search warrant after her arrest and found $12,882 in fake bills in her room - mostly $100s.

Instead of the signature of the Secretary of the Treasury, the bill read "Moe Money."

UNCG Police detectives are continuing the investigation in cooperation with the US Secret Service.

Brown is charged with Uttering a Forged Instrument, Forgery of Instrument, and Obtaining Property by False Pretense, all charges are felonies.

She is in the Guilford County Jail under $3000 bond.
