GASTON COUNTY, N.C. -- A 911 operator in Gaston County helped a woman deliver her grandchild.
According to WBTV, the woman called 911 Monday afternoon and said her daughter was about to give birth.
The woman told the 911 operator that she and her daughter went to the hospital earlier in the day, but hospital workers told them not to come back until her water breaks.
The dispatcher told the woman over the phone how to deliver the baby and support the mother.
The dispatcher remained on the line as the mother gave birth. EMS arrived after the child was born. They took the baby and mother to the hospital. Officials told WBTV the mom and baby are doing fine.
