GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Starting in February, Guilford County courthouses will ban cell phones and recording devices.
The ban goes into effect Feb. 3, 2014. It applies to the courthouses in Greensboro and High Point.
Security personnel will not allow cell phones, computers, cameras and any electronic device that can record or take photos.
A statement from the justice department says the ban protects witnesses, jurors and others involved in court proceedings, and prevents disruptions.
There are, however, some exceptions. They apply to attorneys, law enforcement and people with written permission.
