Burlington Police Make Arrest In Double Shooting

BURLINGTON, N.C.-- Last week, Police in Greensboro found a man inside a car, on Huffine Mill Rd., with gunshot wounds. During their investigation, Officers were able to connect the victim to a double shooting that occurred in Burlington.

Police identified the victim as 30 year-old Edgar Elijah Standback of Greensboro. Standback was transported to Moses Cone Hospital where he later died.

On the same day, Thursday, October 24, Burlington Police said they responded to an apartment on Woodspring Drive at 10:36 a.m. and found two men who had been shot. Both men were taken to Moses Cone for treatment.

One of the victims sustained non-life threatening injuries. Police listed the other victim as in stable condition after being shot multiple times in his upper and lower extremities.

Tuesday night, October 29, Burlington Police said they have arrested William Donald Vance III, of Greensboro, for his involvement in the shooting.

Vance is charged with:

  • 2 Counts of Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill Inflicting Serious Injury
  • 1 Count of Attempted Armed Robbery
  • 1 Count of Felonious Breaking and Entering

Greensboro Police and Burlington Police are working together on this investigation.
