GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Cold Arctic high pressure is building over the area and will control Piedmont weather into early next week.
With the high still west of the area, winds will be northwesterly Friday at 10 to 20 mph. We will see bright sunshine, but the sun's rays will do little to warm us up.
The high Friday will be 53, but the wind will make it feel like the lower 40s. The wind will relax tonight. With a clear sky, dry air and near calm winds, temperatures will fall quickly after sunset. The overnight low will be 28. With these temperatures expected, a Freeze Warning has been issued for all of the WFMY News 2 viewing area from 1 a.m. until 9 a.m. Saturday morning.
This means freezing or subfreezing temperatures will likely damage or kill plants and tender vegetation.
Saturday and Sunday will be mostly sunny. The high on Saturday will be 57, warming a bit to 62 on Sunday. The low temperature Sunday morning will be 35. Our normal high temperature is 68, and our normal low is 46.
