Greensboro, NC-News 2 researches the money and exposure the Wyndham Championship brings to the Triad.

It's nearly a century of history, thousands of fans, and tens of millions of dollars. After all, the Wyndham Championship is the only professional sport we have every single year.

WFMY News 2's Liz Crawford visited Sedgefield Country Club on Tuesday. Folks inside the pro-shop were busy transforming the inventory from golf gear to Ralph Lauren merchandise, the official apparel sponsor.

Outside, it was everything from landscaping to constructing sky boxes, suites, and tents.

According to the PGA Tour, the tournament is broadcast to more than 900-million households in 225 countries, in 32 languages.

It's also a big traffic driver to the Triad. All those visitors come to spend money.

Tournament director, Mark Brazil said, " You're talking about heads in beds, you're talking about restaurants, you're talking about airport, you're talking about rental cars, the business that we do with companies in the area."

The Greensboro Chamber of Commerce estimates that the tournament has an economic impact anywhere between $25 to $45 million dollars.

The estimated attendance is 80,000 people over the course of the week.

Tournament organizers say with good weather, it could be more like 90,000 people.
