Arrested after their baby daughter's death.

Eden, NC -- Police say they've arrested a mother and father after first responders found their 17-month-old child not breathing at their Eden home July 11.

Eden police told WFMY News 2's Liz Crawford they arrested Antonio Maurice Gwynn and Heather Marie Gwynn, both 22-years-old, in Caswell County Tuesday evening.

According to Eden police, Antonio's bond was set at $3 million and Heather's was set at $1 million. The Gwynns are scheduled to make their first appearance in court at 2 pm Wednesday, their court date is scheduled August 6.

The mother and father were hiding at a relative's home at 2090 Stoney Creek School Road in Caswell County. The Caswell Sheriff's Office and NC Highway Patrol assisted Eden police in arresting the pair.

On Tuesday, police escorted Antonio and Heather Gwynn into the police department. Antonio only said, "I love my kids." Heather sobbed with her face in her hands.

Officers, along with members of the Eden Rescue Squad and Rockingham County EMS, responded to 503 Prospect St. in reference to a child who wasn't breathing. Paramedics took Toni Maurie Gwynn to a local hospital, where she later died.

As part of protocol, Eden police opened an investigation into Gwynn's death. Detectives processed the scene and interviewed the toddler's parents.

Rockingham County Social Services was later called in to help with two other children living in the home. Police say Antonio and Heather Gwynn were the parents of all three kids.

The State Medical Examiner performed an autopsy on Toni Gwynn's body July 12, and those results are pending.

Antonio is charged with second-degree murder and felony child abuse, and Heather faces her own felony child abuse charge.

If you have information that could help police find Antonio and Heather Gwynn, call Eden police at 336-623-9755 or Rockingham County Crime Stoppers at 336-349-9683.
