Triad -- The agency known for its Red Kettle days, disaster aid and for helping those less fortunate, is looking for a few good cars.
In fact, the Salvation Army is hoping to receive a donation of 30 cars in 30 days. One reason is the season. According to the agency, the summer months bring a predictable slowdown in charitable contributions.
So they've set out to keep things moving, literally, for the summer but they can't do it without your generosity. Proceeds from the donated vehicles will help fund the life-changing programs and services provided by The Salvation Army, year-round.
Breakdown of how your donated car can change a life:
-- $500 will help 5 individuals or families keep the lights on in their home for a month through The Salvation Army's Emergency Assistance program.
--$1,000 will send 10 children to summer camp for a week at The Salvation Army Boys & Girls Club this summer.
--$1,500 will provide 800 meals to be served from The Salvation Army mobile feeding kitchen in the midst of a local, regional or national disaster.
--$2,000 will provide 160 nights of shelter for someone experiencing homelessness at The Salvation Army Center of Hope.
Car donations can be made during the month of July at participating Triad-area Ford dealers, or any other time of the year to The Salvation Army directly.
