Winston-Salem -- The first day of the Winston-Salem Cycling Classic started and finished with more than hundreds of cyclist's and their bikes.
On Saturday, cyclists suited up for the race sponsored by Boston Scientific, Novant Health and Flow Auto.
There's a total of 5 competitive races with a prize purse of $33,000 dollars. The bigger prize though, is for active and retired military personnel trying to manage pain. The proceeds from the Classic will benefit Sceptor Pain Foundation, War Wounded and Forsyth Medical Foundation.
Professional teams from around the country are in town to compete in this USA Cycling sanctioned event. There is no cost for spectators who want to watch.
The race will continue on Sunday.
