Gibsonville, NC -- Funeral arrangements have been announced for Mike Woznick, the Gibsonville police chief who died from a heart attack Friday evening while mowing his lawn.
Visitation for family, friends and community members will be Tuesday at The Lamb's Chapel at 415 Roxboro St. in Haw River, NC. The gathering will start at 4 pm.
Woznick's funeral is scheduled for 10 am Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church at 303 North Main St. in Graham, NC.
Woznick, a 28-year veteran of law enforcement, began his career at the Gibsonville Police Department in May 1999. Before Gibsonville, Woznick worked for the Elon, Graham and Bell Haven police departments and was also a reserve deputy with the Alamance County Sheriff's Office.
Once he joined the force in Gibsonville, Woznick rose through the ranks as a patrol officer, K-9 officer, investigator, staff sergeant and captain before taking over as chief in 2007.
Chief Woznick is survived by his son, Michael, and fiancee, Angel.
