High Point, NC -- On a day filled with joy and hope for the future, a High Point University senior and a close friend had something of their own to celebrate.

Collin Smith finally got to experience the day he'd always dreamed of when he crossed the stage to accept his college degree. But, the quadriplegic student didn't make it to this day without a little help from a friend.

Once Smith received his degree, HPU's President Dr. Nido Qubein presented Smith's good friend, Ernest Greene, with an honorary doctorate of humane letters.

Greene took care of Smith the past four years. He drove Smith to classes, took notes and did everything he could to make sure the senior was successful at HPU.

And, after four years, the two got to enjoy their accomplishments together Saturday.

Students and parents also got a special treat during Saturday's ceremony as Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak gave the class' commencement speech.

HPU awarded 936 degrees in Saturday's ceremony, making it the largest graduating class in the school's history.
